Star Wars Episode 3 Stuff

5/9/05 - 5/19/05

Well, with a new Star Wars movie opening, there's a lot of hype. And a lot of chances for geeks like me who own Star Wars costumes to walk the streets without as many strange looks as we normally get.

Thanks to the good folks in the Empire City Garrison, and the New York Line, I was able to get involved in some really cool events!

First up was a spot on Cold Pizza on ESPN with Billy Dee Williams. He plugged the new Miniatures game, and we just looked good.

Then we stopped off on the NY Line and helped raise some money for the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation.

A couple of days later I went back to the line, this time in full Trooper gear! FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! I've worn an ALMOST complete set of Trooper armor before, but this was the first time it was complete. I brought Belle with me, and she got some great press. Even got into a couple of papers. Check out the SpatCave Message Board for the clippings.

Frank, Christian and I also got to play on the Geek Squad bus, and Belle made a new best friend.

The next day came the Charity Premiere of Star Wars Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith! We were all there, decked out in gear.

Samuel Jackson made an appearance.

The lobby gang.

Liam Neeson stopped by.

Constantine from American Idol. No idea why he was there.

Rich in his slick lawyer costume checking out the chicks.

Looks like John Williams and his family with the lobby crew.

Anakin, Padme and Vader.

Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett) stopping in.

Then, we headed to the afte party and had some fun. Leon and Karen were there keeping the partiers in line.

How come Chewie gets all the chicks? I'm almost as hairy, and I get nothing!

Frank, Rich and I at the bar afterwards. Morgan in the background making faces.

Karen and I.

Our Stormtrooper bartender.

Frank, Rich, Keith, Eric and I goofing around.

On the day of the midnight premiere of Star Wars, we did a spot on Fox News, and then afterwards headed to the offices of XM Satellite Radio and The Opie and Anthony show so Eric could explain his recent article in the Post where he bragged about sleeping on Star Wars sheets.

From there we headed to teh competition, Sirius Satellite Radio and the Radio Chick show. Dion and Roger came along and we had a blast!

Eric showed off his implants (not the boob kind).

Then came the actual Premiere!

I discovered that Stormtrooper armor is like Catnip to horses! This horse loved to lick the armor! When I took the pic with it, all I saw was a giant tongue cleaning the front of my helmet!

Me with Naamua Delany of Fox 5 News. She interviewed me twice over the course of the week.

Random Jedi girl. Yummy.

And at the end of the night, me getting molested in a bar.

A few days later I did a gig with Burger King promoting the new toys, and got to hang out at the offices of Maxim and Stuff Magazine.

Later that day I made my way over to the Pillsbury Doughboy's Birthday party. I was in full Trooper armor, and made quite an impression. Then was quickly asked to leave. :( Good thing I snagged a cupcake on the way out!

Well, that's about it. It was quite the busy week. I had a great time, and got me a lot of swag. And isn't that what it's all about? Well, that and the charities. The charities are also important. NY Line did raise $46,000 for the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation!
