Armor Repair

Sometimes the armor cracks. It happens. From stress, from falling down, from some drunk moron running up and punching it.

For whatever reason it happens, it can be fixed, in quite a few ways.

I've listed here just one way, but there are many other ways it can be done.

Here's the crack in the armor.
I used a piece of scrap plastic. This is .100 gauge, but any plastic scrap can work. You can get sheet styrene from most Model Train shops.
I cut the scrap to the size I wanted and bent it a little bit with my hands to make it contour a little bit to the armor.
Checking the alignment.
Mix up a batch of 2 ton epoxy.
Apply the epoxy to the underside of the scrap plastic, place it over the crack and clamp it. Make sure you don't bent the armor while doing this, you want the crack to be as closed up as possible.
Once it's dry, you can leave it as it is, or really make sure it's never going to crack again!
I drilled four 1/8" holes.
And riveted the scrap plastic to the armor.
Then I went around the edge with a hot glue gun to make it look like it was welded.
Painted it silver.
And it's all done!
This way it kind of looks like a piece of metal was welded and riveted to the armor for a repair.

If you want, you can paint the repair green, or camo it, or, you can attach the scrap plastic to the underside of the armor and not use the rivets to make the repair more subtle.

Hope that helps!
